Holzkohlebrand Peter Wichmann  https://www.peter-wichmann.de/

Peter Wichmann forms his sculptural works from clay. The figurative works receive their final surfaces in charcoal firing at approx. 1250 °C. Glazes of soda and wood ash, the embers and the heat of the kiln leave traces on the surfaces. It is precisely these influences, which can only be controlled to a very limited extent, that give his objects their special charm. His works are additionally artistically staged by the use of rusted steel, stones and wood.

Peter Wichmann usually seeks the models for his objects in Greek mythology. Its gods, demi-gods, hybrid beings and heroes offer an infinite wealth of themes that are pictorially realised or placed in a new context through his own interpretation.
