The many layers of the soul
“Bettina Hachmann’s paintings are much more herself, a mirror of the artist, figure, landscape, colour on canvas, order and chaos as well as the desire to celebrate the process of emotions over and over again through the painted image”.

Quote from the opening speech of the exhibition in Moers,
Dr. Christian Krausch, art historian

“Exclusively on abstract paths, Bettina Hachmann takes us into a world of structured surfaces. In doing so, she sets her own traces, creates multiple layers of colour and distinctive lines and virtually takes the work out of nature. However, such striking structures cannot be achieved by layers applied in mixed media alone. Lacquers, pigments, putty and papers are components of the painting applied to canvas, along with acrylic paints. From time to time, the abstraction of the paintings is interrupted by a special sign, a writing segment or similar.

The entire surface is brought to life by scratched lines, washed-out areas, colours applied with brushes, palette knives, rollers or the hands. This creates surfaces that are reminiscent of encrustations, among other things.”

Quote Monika Götz, cultural journalist
