Jamil Soro | A Syrian painter from Aleppo  | with a new home in the Unperfekthaus in Essen

My job? Painter!

My passion? Bring a person’s character to the big screen that he is alive.

Jamil Soro is a painter by profession whose passion is to capture the true essence of a person on canvas.  He completed his university studies in Aleppo in the days when the city was an Art and Cultural center.  While there, he created paintings for major exhibitions, as well as outdoor sculptures for the cities of Aleppo and Damascus.

After moving to Germany, Jamil found a studio at Unperfekthaus in the city of Essen.  He has participated in several exhibitions in Essen with other international artists.  His particular focus today is painting portraits in oil of people from his home country of Syria.  One of his  newest projects is mainly dedicated to “Hope”. This theme is inspired by his two children who were born in Germany to him and his Lebanese/German wife.
